The Apple Watch Series 4 models look similar to earlier models, but have larger displays, more advanced input capabilities, more powerful internals, and more advanced sensors (most notably a new accelerometer and gyroscope that can detect falls and an electrical heart sensor).
This particular model, the Apple Watch Series 4 (Nike+, GPS, 40 mm) does not have wireless cellular capability, but higher-end models in the series also are capable of being connected to the Internet without a “tethered” iPhone. This “GPS” model is required to be connected to an iPhone 5s or newer running iOS 12 or later for most functionality.
All Apple Watch Series 4 devices are controlled with a Digital Crown with haptic feedback and a Force Touch capable display. This particular Apple Watch Series 4, the Nike+ GPS model in the 40 mm size, features a 324×394 LTPO OLED screen with “strengthened, lightweight Ion-X glass” packed in a 7000 series anodized aluminum housing with an “all ceramic and sapphire crystal back” that connects to the charger.
All Apple Watch Series 4 Nike+ models include unique Nike watch faces, a built-in Nike+ Run Club app, and “a new Audio Guided Run every week with the voice of a guest coach.”
Battery life is an Apple estimated “up to 18 hours” overall, but more specifically “up to 2 hours” of talk time connected to an iPhone, “up to 10 hours” of audio playback from Apple Watch storage, “up to 10 hours” working out indoors and “up to 6 hours” working out outdoors with GPS.
There are four different options for this particular Apple Watch Series 4 Nike+ model. Options include a silver colored aluminum case with either a fluoroelastomer rubber “Pure Platinum/Black Nike Sport Band” (pictured, left) or fabric “Summit White Nike Sport Band” or a dark “Space Gray” colored aluminum case and either a fluoroelastomer rubber “Anthracite/Black Nike Sport Band” or fabric “Black Nike Sport Loop” (pictured, right).
